Zodiac

The Ecliptic is the way the sun passes in the sky. zodiac means 12 constellations on the ecliptic. It is said that the zodiac was made in Babylonia around the 7th century BC.

  • Constellation 1 – Aries : March 21 – April 19
  • Constellation 2 – Taurus : April 20 – May 20
  • Constellation 3 – Gemini : May 21 – June 21
  • Constellation 4 – Cancer : June 22 – July 22
  • Constellation 5 – Leo : July 23 – August 22
  • Constellation 6 – Virgo : August 23 – September 22
  • Constellation 7 – Libra : September 23 – October 22
  • Constellation 8 – Scorpio : October 23 – November 22
  • Constellation 9 – Sagittarius : November 23 – December 21
  • Constellation 10 – Capricorn : December 22 – January 20
  • Constellation 11 – Aquarius : January 21 – February 18
  • Constellation 12 – Pisces : February 19 – March 20

The sun passes by 12 constellations for one year. The constellation near the sun becomes the constellation of that month.
Unfortunately, You cannot see your constellation in the birth month because the sun is near your constellation when your birth month.

Currently, zodiacs do not matched the date and sun position.

If you look at the top that slowly rotates, you can see that the rotating axis is not fixed in one place, and the axis rotating makes a cone. In this way, the earth’s rotation axis is not fixed but rotated. This movement is called ‘precession.’ The precession period is known for about 25,800 years. Because of this, the zodiac is now out of sync. This phenomenon will get worse over time.
The ecliptic is gradually changing. Now the sun has passed 13 constellations. Recently, an ‘Ophiuchus’ is inserted on the ecliptic. However, because people traditionally like the number 12, “Ophiuchus” has not gained the position as the ecliptic 12 constellation.

Because zodiac constellations vary in size, their ranges are slightly different. A small constellation like Aries occupies a narrow position, and a large constellation like Pisces occupies a wide place. Therefore, all zodiac constellations can not divide the ecliptic into twelve equal parts.
